It takes courage to say this isn’t it, this isn’t who I want to be, or how I want to be seen.
It takes courage to say there must be a better way to thrive in this world and to seek it, choosing the unknown over the comfortable.
In order to grow, we have to accept the pain that comes with shedding old ways of doing and being that no longer serve us. We have to be able to turn down the volume on the chorus of voices, both real and imagined, that tell us how we should and shouldn’t be living.
Plants, animals, and humans flourish under the right conditions. What conditions do you need? Are you taking steps to bring the right influences, people, and circumstances into your life that will allow you to thrive?
In the same way we give a plant nutrient-rich soil to nourish its roots and place it in a location with optimal light, so we must as humans nourish and position ourselves for growth.
Each of us knows what is best for us right now, regardless of where we are in the ongoing process of being and becoming our authentic selves. We know the little steps we can take to reach for the light.
First, however, we have to believe that we deserve to flourish—that it’s a fundamental human right—and then vow to do all we can within our power and control to reach for what is ours, for what is us.
